Pear Tree Nursery had been established since 1990 and on the 23rd March we purchased our 3rd Nursery in Haddington, Pear Tree Nursery Church Street. We are situated in a mid terrace stone built building on Church Street mid terraced stone built premises located on the east of Haddington, close to the main town centre. We are open from 7.30am to 6pm, 51 weeks of the year.
Premises
Pear Tree Nursery, Church Street is run from a large mid terrace stone built house. It is set over 3 floors, with the 0-2’s on the ground floor and the 2-5’s on the first floor. There is a large enclosed garden to the rear and the nursery is very close to the main town centre for public transport.

Pear Tree nursery has created a secure and stimulating environment in which your child can develop all the skills they need to become a successful learner, confident individual, responsible citizen and an effective contributor.

All our staff are fully qualified or working towards their qualification and have a passion for childcare. This high level of care and professionalism is demonstrated through our Care Inspectorate Inspections where we continue to receive Excellent and Very Good grades.
Meet the team
Charlotte Goode
Nursery Manager
Charlotte joined Pear Tree in 2013 after completing her BSc Health Psychology degree and was the Deputy Manger before going on maternity leave in July 2019. During her time at Pear Tree she has completed her Level 3 and 4 qualifications in childcare and has gained her Level 3 in Forest schools’ leadership. She has a great passion for supporting the children to learn to their fullest potential and letting them lead their learning. She is looking forward to working with all the staff, families, and children
Sinead
Room Manager, Poppy Room.
Sinead has her HNC in Early education and childcare. She has worked for Pear Tree since 2012 and has experience in all age ranges. In her spare time Sinead likes to spend her time with her family.
Jordan
Deputy Manager. Room Manager Daisy Room
which she has now achieved. Jordan
has done volunteer work in different schools and nurseries for the past 5 years. In her spare time Jordan likes to socialise with her
family and friends.
Sian
Room Manager Sunflower Room
Sian joined the team in December 2019. Sian has worked with children for nearly 20 years and has her HNC in Childcare and Education . Her passions are arts and crafts at nursery with the children and at home. She also enjoy reading and taking her lovely dogs for long walks at the beach, baking and play board games.
Hannah
Finance / Admin
Hannah joined Pear Tree Nursery in September 2019. She has an HND in Sports Therapy and a BSC (hons) degree in Sports Science. She has previously worked in hospitality doing reception and admin.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her two children and going out for a run when she can!

Grant funding
Pear Tree Nursery is in partnership with East Lothian Council to provide 1140 hours of Funded Early Learning and Childcare to eligible children. Please see the attached 1140 Hours Information Sheet for further information. If you have any queries on the 1140 hours please contact the office. We require both applications to be completed to apply for 1140 hours.

Childcare Vouchers
The nursery accepts tax free childcare (full information can be found at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk on how to apply/eligibility. This can save some families up to £2000 in childcare costs).
We also continue to accept all childcare vouchers (these are no longer available for new families to sign up to).

The above fees include a full cooked lunch and tea prepared by our in house chef using locally sourced ingredients. Snack and a drink of milk or water is also included. Nappies and wipes can be supplied at an additional charge. Please see our sample menu attached.

Sunflower Room
The Sunflower room is for our older children aged 3 to 5 years old and consists of a large playroom with a small quiet room off this playroom. There is plenty of space for the children to move around and explore the many activities on offer. The children can enjoy a wide range of free play and structured activities such as painting, sand, water and play dough. We have a writing table, cosy corner, construction area, house corner. The children have daily access to the large garden and also enjoy regular visits out in the community, to our forest school site and intergeneration visits. All our staff are fully qualified or working towards their qualification and follow the Curriculum for Excellence Framework.
Poppy Room
The Poppy room is for children aged 24 months to 3 years and consists of three playrooms. The children have access to a wide range of resources throughout the day and can choose to participate in a wide variety of activities. We have a selection of open-ended resources to promote the children’s heuristic play, for example pine cones, corks, pegs etc along with a variety of bags to encourage the children’s transportation. There is a home corner, construction area, story corner, small world play area and messy play area where the children have the opportunity to engage in painting, play dough, water and sand play and many other arts and craft activities. The children have daily access to the garden and participate in community visits, forest schools and intergeneration visits. Our staff team are either all fully qualified or working towards their qualification and follow the Pre Birth to Three Document.
The Daisy Room
The Daisy Room is for our youngest children aged 3 months to up to 2 years. The children have access to a wide variety of open ended resources to promote their curiosity, inquiry and creativity. These resources are displayed at the children’s level throughout the day and they can choose to participate in a wide variety of activities i.e. painting , baking, play dough or variety of sensory experiences. There is a separate sleep room/sensory room where the children can sleep/relax throughout the day. Children have daily access to their own garden area and love being out for walks in the local community. Our staff team are either all fully qualified or working towards their qualification and follow the Pre Birth to Three Document.
Garden
Our hidden secret. The nursery boasts a large secure garden to the back of the property with a wide range of equipment such as climbing frame, wooden play house, large sandpit, loose parts play and a wide selection of bikes and push along toys. The children can play with sand and water play, as well as the many other activities which can be transferred from inside to outside. We also have our own guinea pigs and a vegetable patch for children to enjoy growing their own fruit and vegetables. The Daisy Room have their own separate secure garden area.
